A superior early 19th century English sea captain's long glass from this British maker with sharp and clear optics and survives in remarkably fine original condition. Features three brass draws with a mahogany main tube with brass ends including a sliding sun shade and 1 1/4 inch objective lens, the viewing end also with sliding lens cover. The mahogany barrel retains its beautiful original color and patina and survives free of nicks or cracks. There are a few minor surface dents in the objective tube and a small edge crack in the objective lens, but the crack does not affect the scope viewing at all. Length closed: 11 1/4" Length extended: 32." This is an amazing item given its age being nearly two centuries old.
Circa 1825
