An early 20th century brass bow light that we have re-purposed into a nautical table lamp. The lantern features a D-shaped body with hooped bail handle and thick clear glass Fresnel lens. A brass plate on the top states "BOW LIGHT". The hinged rear door swings open to access the interior light and is flanked on each side with the original mounting brackets.
This old brass navigation light survives with denting on the shoulder and also has a crack in the lens on the right side, but is still whole and stable. There is a small hole in the center of the back door where at one time an electric cord had passed through. The lamp surface patina is a soft bronze in color. Measures 5 inches wide (not including mounting brackets) and now 19 inches tall to the top of the lamp shade.
We have replaced the old interior light fixture and wire with new and added the upper room light. Now features a three-way switch that toggles between the upper table lamp light and the interior lantern light. Use with a light dimmer for ambient lighting control.
*The lantern is not engraved nor has a manufacturers label, but the style is a match with marine lamp makers of the early 20th century from the New York City area.
The price is for the lamp only. Shown here with our 14" burlap covered lamp shade. (See below).
