An exceptional contemporary carved and painted spread wing eagle carved in the style of John Haley Bellamy (1836–1914) a folk artist of New England, known for his highly stylized carved wooden eagles and other decorative items for ships and homes. Thick carved mahogany with eagle wings in gold paint clutching a American Federal shield that is decorated in navy blue with white stars and a red and white striped flag below. The white-painted banner reads 'Live and Let Live' in carved letters in relief painted gold. Great art piece! Measures 16" Tall x 39" Width x 2" Deep.
