Ship's Pilot House Inclinometer made by Adolph Lietz Co. of San Francisco. The back of this instrument is inscribed "S/S H.F. ALEXANDER," and dated 4-1-28.A.Lietz was a German immigrant who came over to the USA in the 1880's and was the highest quality maker of surveying and nautical instruments. This fine clinometer is fully functional and in excellent working condition. The 7 1/2 inch glass face has no cracks or damage of any kind.The large knob at 6 o'clock position locks the instrument in a stationary position. The smaller knob to the right is a dampener.The knob in the center of the dial is used to reset the tilt hands. The case is thick and heavy at 2 1/4 inches and made of brass measuring 9 1/4 inches.All three attachment points remain and are in excellent condition..
