CUSTOM ORDER SHIPS GRATE TABLES

Most of our grate tables are custom orders which allows us to produce the perfect table for your needs. We have created for customers coffee tables, end tables, sofa tables, credenzas, foyer tables and desks. Our standard table is designed after 18th century country Chippendale furniture featuring squared, non tapering legs with a beaded outer edge, plain skirt and H-stretcher for table support. The table bases are produced from solid mahogany using mortise and tenon construction. Pricing for smaller tables start around $900. Call us today to discuss building a beautiful ship's grate table for you.

We search worldwide to find the finest authentic vintage and antique wood ships grates to produce the perfect nautical tables for your home, office or yacht. Each grate is selected for its overall condition and size which seriously limits our available inventory for table production.

Because of these limitations, we will only sell these grates as finished tables and do not sell them separately. We do have a small collection of grates that are available for sale in our salvage department: click here.

    ABOUT SHIP GRATES-
Ship grates were typically produced from hardwoods such as teak, ash, oak, mahogany and occasionally softwoods like deal (Scots pine) and are found in varying shapes and sizes depending on its use and placement aboard the ship.

Grating, defined- A lattice work constituting of two systems of wood bars running at right angles to each other. One system is usually mortised into the other to form a flush surface. Gratings are used as drainage platforms on the bridges, cold storage spaces, etc. They are generally made up in sections in sizes convenient for handling. Simple gratings are also often made by securing a number of small square strips of wood together with bolts or rivets, small blocks being inserted between the strips in way of the rivets to act as separators.

Hatch gratings- Gratings usually constructed of wood, fitted over hatch openings. They are particularly desirable where hatch covers are removed or opened.
