High-quality mid-20th century architect's transit manufactured by C. L. Berger & Sons, Boston Massachusetts and is engraved on the round telescope frame "C.L. BERGER & SONS, BOSTON, MASS., BD598, MADE IN USA & with the company logo."
This fine instruments survives in like-new condition and features three bubble levels, two for the base and one under the adjustable telescope as well as multiple fine-tuning adjustments. The telescope measures 12 inches in length (fully open) with a 1 1/2 inch objective lens, with clear 25 times object view. Black powder coated surface and solid brass adjustment wheels and mounts. Comes with it's original DIETZGEN folding adjustable and collapsible wood tripod and it's fitted oak storage/carrying case. Quite a handsome professional surveying instrument!
