An outstanding pair of maritime andirons manufactured by the Titus Foundry, Petersburg, Virginia. Each depicting a 19th century sailor on crow's nest holding rigging on plinth with anchor, blubber spade, bails and barrels. Embossed #20 on the inside of the casting and repeated on the side of the fire dog. SIZE: 25 1/2 inches tall x 22-1/4 inches deep. These andirons are in like-new condition and never used!
Provenance provided by the previous owner, a Petersburg, Virginia resident and former employee of the foundry, this was one of ten pairs cast at the foundry and were the last of these to be produced.
