A fine early 20th century small boxed and gimbaled compass made by Wilcox & Crittenden of Middletown, Connecticut, and the compass face is marked with the WC monogram at due North. Features a two inch compass face with brass outer ring and the compass survives in good working order. The mahogany box is constructed with machine dovetailed corners and retains a pleasing, dark brown patina but is without a lid. Black painted compass housing and gimbal ring. Box measures 4 7/8" X 4 7/8" X 3 1/2" high. A clean and working example for the nautical collector.
