Old lifeboat water cask or keg constructed of white oak staves in natural finish. Six galvanized iron hoops, with two formed as feet to keep the cask upright. Brass filling bung with a water-tight screw cap is fitted on top, with a brass spigot on one end for dispensing the contents. The weight of the cask is approximately 13 LBS empty weight and holds about 5 gallons of water. Appears to have had a few shims added beneath the metal foot rings for stability. Measures 17 1/2 inches long and 9 inch diameter at each end. Authentic life saving artifact in excellent condition. Great old dark patina! From the Arthur A. Rebman Maritime Collection.
