Early to mid 20th century. Folk art model of the steam ferry boat "NEPTUNE", originally owned and operated by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1910. Composed of wood and tin, the model retains it's weathered painted black and red painted hull and white painted surfaces. Measures 29 inches long, 6 inches wide and 24 1/2 inches tall including the wood base.
This model once adorned the top of a mailbox from a house located on Canal Drive in Portsmouth, Virginia. Wonderful piece of American maritime folk art. From the Arthur A. Rebman Maritime Collection.
