A fine watercolor painting of American "J" class yacht racing depicting the "Vanity" racing "Rainbow" which won the America's Cup in 1934. Built in 1914, the "Vanity" was re-rigged as a J boat to race against "Shamrock IV," but "Vanity" was beaten by "Resolute" to race "Shamrock IV." This scene was painted after a photograph by the famous American marine photographer Morris Rosenfeld. This painting is not signed and we do not know who the marine artist is. The view size measures 21" X 29" and 32 1/2 X 40 1/2 framed. Custom framed with off white and navy blue matting, original burled walnut style wood frame.
The photo images of the watercolor was shot through the glass and there is some mirroring of the showroom reflected!
