Our solid cast aluminum caged clamshell lights are produced in aluminum after the original brass examples used on ships during the mid 20the century with clear bulbous style lens. The cage is easily removed to access the interior with a round nut and hinged bolt, and can be attached to most flat surfaces with the three mounting feet. Comes with a single small socket, perfect for long-lasting florescent and LED bulbs, but can also be used with standard incandescent bulbs.Measures 9 inches in diameter and about 6 inches deep. Perfect for ceiling mount or wall mount applications with surface mount wiring.
DESIGNER INSIGHT: Lighting fixtures like these are perfect for both indoor and outdoor use on walls and as ceiling lights too. They can also be used as a light for your finely fitted yacht. They are a better match in an interior setting to associate with brushed steel fixtures than a brass example. The concave polished aluminum back works as a reflector, so a small low wattage bulb gives off a lot of light. Always a great light in a nautical design but also in contemporary or warehouse conversions!
