Replicated to scale after an original early 19th century half-length ship's captain figurehead. This exceptional work of art was carved to scale by Jack Edwards after an original figurehead that was once in our possession.
Carved wood and painted finish, the figurehead faces straight ahead watching over the sea above the prow of the ship. The Captain is dressed in a double breasted coat painted olive green with one button undone and right hand slid inside. The second hand rests on his side.
Extremely detailed and distressed surface for a more realistic sea-worn appearance and ends on a scrolled billet. Measures 20 inches wide and 40 inches tall with a 24 inch projection. Shown held to the back wall with a brass chain and resting on a thick wood platform that comes with the carving. A great maritime carving for the nautical home or office!
