Product Description

This fine German made barometer was made for and retailed by San Francisco ship's chandler Louis Weule, 1879-1920. Colorful dial with steel blue hand and gold pointer. Back flange measures a whopping 9 3/8" and the front bezel measures an impressive 8 1/8". The case has a wonderful aged patina.

The Louis Weule Company, which dealt in nautical charts, instruments and supplies, was founded in 1862 by Charles Pace of London, and taken over by Louis Weule in 1892. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, the firm was reorganized under the name of the Louis Weule Company.
