This early Chelsea clock was made for and marketed by Chas. C. Hutchinson, Boston, U.S.A., as labeled on the front of the clock face. Housed in a solid forged brass case with hinged bezel, this rare time-only clock features its original red brass finish and hand-silvered dial. Boasting black Roman numerals and black hands, it also features a small seconds orbit, and a “Fast - Slow” regulator. As was recommended to us, we have left the clock untouched with an aged patina, but could be polished to a bright brass finish.  Chelsea Clock official serial number, marked on both the back of the clock case and the brass clock back plate is #391, which should be a manufacturers date of 1897, the first year of Chelsea marine clock production. The CHELSEA CLOCK COMPANY stamp is also located on the back plate of the clock works. Weighs approx. 14 pounds. 8 inch clock face. Outer case diameter: 10 7/8 inches. Comes with it's original mahogany base for mantel or tabletop display, or can be hung on a bulkhead or wall. Comes with a replacement key. Keeps perfect time!
