Product Description

A superior English brass and mahogany sea captain’s long glass by an unknown maker, circa 1825. Features two brass draws with a mahogany main tube with brass ends including a sliding sun shade and 2 inch objective lens and sliding lens cap on the viewing end. The mahogany barrel retains the original red varnished color and patina but with varnish losses from years of seafaring use. The optics are hazy, but does create a visible viewing image.  Length closed: 18 1/2" Length,  extended: 35 1/2 inches, not including sun shade. This is a fine period item with normal wear expected given its age being nearly two centuries old.
