Pristine example of a U. S. Navy MK III MON 1 1995 production sextant in case, serial number 2563 with certificate dating 9-24-92 by Scientific Instruments, 518 W. Cherry St., Milwaukee, WI., as stated on the Certificate of Accuracy attached inside the top of the wood case and again on the mounted plate on the index arm of the sextant A metal plate attached to the front of the case states "MARINE SEXTANT MK 3 MOD 1, NSN: 7H 6605-00-001-4322, U.S., CONTRACT NO: N00104-93-C-0037, SERIAL NO: 2563, DES.ACT. 12004, MFR. 06444.
The sextant comes complete with all its original accessories including a spare set of mirrors, a sighting circle, brush and replacement bulbs for the light.
This lightly used sextant features large size index and horizon mirrors, lighting system, wide angle telescope and custom fitted high impact butternut case with handle. The only flaw that we can find is the interior light system does not appear to work and the small brush inside the case is worn. Otherwise, this sextant is in like-new condition! This sextant comes to us from the family of a local tugboat captain. This is the second U.S. Navy MK III Sextant manufactured by scientific Instruments that we have had and is priced comparatively.
