18th century painted tole lantern used below deck on sailing ships long ago. Constructed with four windows and multiple wired guards, blown glass panes, hinged door and swing loop handle. This light was wired for electricity many years ago and we've replaced the old light fixture and wiring, adding an on/off switch on to the electric cord. A rare surviving 18th century lantern that can be used today as a table lantern or hung as a ceiling light in your nautical room and coastal home. The lantern measures 7 X 7 X 13 inches including wire guards but excluding the top loop handle.
