Nice Civil War Confederate States artillery CS Star short sword with scabbard. Spiral grooved brass handle and grip with embossed initials CS on guard and a single star on each side of the pommel. Carbon steel blade. Blade inscribed "RICHMOND ARSENAL" with dull edge and some areas of surface rust and pitting. Brass handle in very good condition. Measurements total 25 7/8 inches, handle 6 1/2 inch, blade 19 1/2 inches, fuller 15 inches (not straight with a rise between 4.5 and 5.5 inch mark). Retains the original leather and brass scabbard. Age is unknown. Displays very well with aged patina! Weighs 3 pounds, 6 ounces.
This, we believe is a post civil war production sword, most likely a 20th century reproduction- not an authentic 19th Century Confederate Sword. With so many reproductions in existence today, best to know that this is not an authentic Civil War era original CS star sword.
