Helvic's Galvanized Metal Starboard Running Light With Cobalt Blue Fresnel Lens

An authentic, turn-of-the-century, commercial-grade starboard running light (sidelight), stamped "HELVIC'S" on an oval brass manufacturer's tag, on a rugged galvanized metal body with a low-profile flat cap, circa 1900-1910. The cobalt blue Fresnel lens survives in perfect condition, free of cracks or chips. The low, flattened top design was an engineering modification rather than just an aesthetic variation. The removable, snap-in internal burner assembly/oil tank carries the name of "B.B.& C. CO." on the wick guide. The two friction springs, lock the burner module tightly into the lantern so it won't shake loose in rough seas. The lantern base is hinged and opens to access the burner. Retains a weather seasoned patina from a century worth of use. Stands 9 1/2 inches tall, exclusive of the top ring and 5-inch sides. Missing the bottom door keep.
