A hard-to-find early-to-mid 20th-century solid copper with brass hardware ship’s anchor light or navigation lantern with brass hardware, fitted with a lower removable 6-volt battery housing. Features a clear glass Fresnel lens in good order and an oval maker's badge marked "PERKO" "PERKINS MARINE LAMP & HDWE, CORP., BROOKLYN N.Y., U.S.A." on the dome. The "PERKO" brand name is also embossed on the Fresnel lens. Brass wire guards protect the lens. Lower battery housing with hoisting rings on the side, and is fitted onto the upper lamp with two heavy clamps, each with a pivoting screw, and a wing nut to fasten it down. Large, cast brass stationary ring handle on top. This navigation light was designed for electric (battery) power, via a 6-volt battery, that was easily detachable for charge or replacement. Retains a pleasing, aged copper patina.

DIMENSIONS: Stands 14 inches tall, not including the ring handle and the base is 6 inches in diameter. Weighs 5 1/2 pounds.

CONDITION: The original on/off switch is still in place with it's copper cover on chain. We've replaced it and the old, aged electrical wiring with new. The on/off switch is now located on the lamp cord wire.

Specialized functioning lights like this particular PERKO light were produced and sold in small
numbers and are quite hard to find today. Reminiscent of a small lighthouse!
