Pair of early to mid 20th century British made brass historic sailing ship bookends featuring "Santa Maria 1492" and "The Great Harry". The "Santa Maria" was the flagship of Christopher Columbus and the "Great Harry" was the flagship of the defending English fleet against the French in the mid 16th century. Cut out of 1/8 inch sheet brass with engraved designs and titled according to the vessel. The brass book foot is welded on to the bottom of each bookend. Stamped on the back "RD" and "762827" and 762826 on the other. Each measures 4 3/4" wide and 5 1/3" tall. The foot plate projects 3 7/8". A wonderful unique pair of nautical bookends. Set weighs just slightly more than a pound.
