Large, mid 20th century searchlight with a 24" glass lens as found on ships travelling the Suez Canal by night. Made of brass housing and mounted on to an aluminum stand. Measures 28 1/2 inches in diameter not including the bracket arms and stands 72 inches tall as shown. Mounting holes in the round base for securing to a floor surface. The manufacturers label is missing, so we are not sure of the maker. The styling though is similar to Francis Marine Suez Lights used by the British Navy.
CONDITION: The searchlight housing survives in good condition and the interior paint seems to also be original, but the spotting mirror that would be attached on the back is gone. We would certainly recommend that the lighting fixture and wiring to be replaced if planning light use. Expected surface blemishes as one would expect from decades of marine use.
