Authentic WWII era lifeboat water cask or keg constructed of white oak staves in natural finish. Six galvanized iron hoops,with two formed as feet to keep the cask upright. Brass filling bung with a brass water-tight screw cap is fitted on top, with a brass spigot on one end for dispensing the contents. Carved into one end: WT 16 LBS. representing the weight of the cask empty and holds approximately 6 gallons of water. Measures 22 inches long. Missing one of the wooden handles, but otherwise intact.
This item came from a local collection and removed from a decommissioned ship from the James River ghost fleet here in Virginia.
