An American Arts & Crafts carved quarter-sawn oak rocking chair, with the back carved with an image after a painting by Emile Renouf titled "Helping Hand" by the George Arndt Chair Company, Dansville, New York, circa 1910.  The chair features turned supports with scrolled arms and a circular seat, turned legs and supports, and is raised on rocking slides. Measures width: 23 inches, depth: 32 inches, back height: 34 1/2 inches, seat height: 15 1/2 inches.
The George Arndt Chair Company was from Dansville, New York. George Arndt was a talented carver and cabinetmaker, crafting chairs from approximately 1907 to 1914. He produced chairs & settees with ornately carved backs, many with historical & biblical scenes.
