WWII US Liberty Ship Hatch Cover Nautical Coffee Table

Nautical coffee table custom-made in the 1970s using an authentic WWII-era Liberty ship hatch cover. The top is fitted onto the iron base that is screwed into the bottom, but the base is removable for moving or storage. Thick, yellow pine three-board top with wide metal band ends. The base is fashioned using flat, wide strips of metal and hammered into the intricate scrolling legs. Wonderful old dark walnut patina with a high-gloss resin finish. One small repair to one end of one of the metal end bands (see close-up image). Table measures 27" X 59" X 20 1/2" tall. Weighs approx. 120 pounds!
