Mid-20th century nautical desk or table lamp custom made year's ago using an authentic brass ship's log trailing rotator fin, mounted on to a turned mahogany base. Replaced lamp cord, hardware and socket. Polished brass patina. Stands 24 inches tall to the top of the shade (as shown). 8 inch diameter mahogany base. Weighs 4.5 pounds. 

Four-bladed rotator was towed astern and registers the distance traveled and speed on an integral dial.
