Small Boat Compass Housed in it's Original Mahogany Box

Classic, American made early twentieth century small boat compass by G.C. Hutchinson, Boston Mass. This classic "STAR" compass features a 3-inch compass with 2 1/4 inch glass viewing port, housed in it's original black-painted brass bowl, suspended on a gimbal ring with the composition card that states "G.C. HUTCHINSON" and "BOSTON, MASS" The outer compass ring is enscribed "STAR, BOSTON U.S.A. and the number "17621."  This classic marine instrument is fitted to its original mahogany machine-dovetailed box, retaining it's original varnished finish. The box is fitted witt a sliding, removable lid. Weighs 2 lbs. Box dimensions: 3.5"H x 4.5"W x 4.5"D each. Excellent condition throughout!
