Small Boat, Liquid-Filled Compass, Star, Boston

Classic, American-made early twentieth-century small boat, liquid-filled compass STAR, BOSTON, MASS. This classic "STAR" compass features a 3 1/2 inch compass with a 2 1/2 inch glass viewing port, housed in its original black-painted brass bowl, suspended on a gimbal ring with the composition card that states "STAR- BOSTON- USA". The outer compass ring is inscribed "STAR, BOSTON U.S.A. and the number "89503."  This classic marine instrument is fitted in its original mahogany machine-dovetailed box, retaining its old varnished finish. The box is fitted with a sliding, removable lid. Weighs 2 lbs. Box dimensions: 4"H x 5.5"W x 5.5"D. Perfect working order!

CONDITION: Minor surface wear on the mahogany box and compass outer ring. The gimbal-ring box screws are replacements.
