Early 20th-century matching pair of large, American-made port and starboard lanterns, now repurposed into functioning interior nautical table lamps. The port lantern features a ruby-red glass Fresnel lens, and the lamp body is made of galvanized metal with brass chimney caps, retaining an old, sea-worn, encrusted antique-white painted surface. The starboard lantern with ocean blue glass Fresnel lens retains the same old antique white painted finish. Both lenses are in good condition, with minor edge loss from actual marine use. Both nautical table lamps are newly wired and come with new bulb sockets and lamp hardware. The lights are open at the bottom to access the interior light socket. This pair of antique navigation lights are missing their manufacturers tag, but we believe they were made by either Perkins Marine Lamp & Hardware corp. of Brooklyn, New York or by Wilcox Crittendon of Middletown, Conn.
These antique marine navigation lights were quite in disrepair, but are completely intact and ready for years of home lighting! We chose to retain the original painted surface and body wear "as is"... you cannot reproduce this seaworn look if you tried! The original hinged bottom plate and interior lantern burners were long gone when we acquired them.
The lamp lighting choices toggle between the interior light and the lamp light via the upper light switch. You can use either the upper room light, the interior lantern light or both as desired. Measures 24 1/2 inches tall to the top of the shade (as shown) and 7 inch corners at base. A wonderful pair of authentic, very salty nautical lanterns with lots of maritime charm, re-purposed for today’s nautical home. PRICED AS A PAIR!
Lamp shades are sold separately and shown here with a 16-inch off-white linen lamp shade.
