A late 19th century Folk Art diorama of a schooner sailing in the foreground, and a lighthouse with light keepers house painted on the left side of a rocky New England coast. The black painted wood two masted schooner is fully rigged, with carved and painted wood sails, and is flying an American flag. The yacht owners red, white and blue burgee flies above the masts and the schooner is pulling a wood canoe from the stern of the boat. The schooner sails through painted wood and gesso waves while the wood backboard is painted with overall light blue skies inside a shallow wood shadowbox. The shadowbox measures 13.25 inches x 31 inches overall.
CONDITION: The diorama is completely intact, but with paint losses on the backboard background as expected from its 19th century age. Glass front cover is missing.
