A handsome vintage brass lifeboat binnacle that was re-purposed years ago into a nautical table lamp. The open, solid brass binnacle houses a German made liquid-filled compass on gimbal ring, surviving in good working order. The housing was produced by a Japanese maker and is dated "71"(1971). The compass is engraved on the maker on the top ring; "W. HARTMANN, HAMBURG" (Germany) and again on the compass face, just below the fleur-de-lis at point 0. Four inch compass viewing port.
We've replaced the old lighting fixture with new, UL approved lamp socket and wiring and is now ready to light up your living room, bedroom or anywhere you desire an exceptional nautical table lamp in your home or office! Measures 9 inches (wood base) and 20 inches tall to the top of the lampshade.
